    Who Cares Empty Who Cares

    Post  Vradicka M. Moore February 11th 2011, 9:49 pm

    This mornings dew
    Nothing new
    But how does this be?
    New ones I do see!
The grass illuminated by the sun
Looks so twinkly like a star
But only to be gone with the noon
Oh such a bitter terrible noon
    Evaporating my dear friends
I hear their screams to no end
    But wait...
    AREN'T they inanimate?
    Should it matter?
    They'll be back tommorow
    But won't they be different?
    Not the same little drops
    Not the ones I knew
    Oh the confusion
    Which is not too confusing
    The answer right there
    Being ignored
    To no end
    Shall we go toward...

I love the idea behind this!...something so fragile that comes back every day but isn't quite the same...like memories, kind of
My favourite lines are "The grass illuminated by the sun," and "Not the same little drops
    Not the ones I knew."

Do you think you could explain the last 6 lines, though? As the poem suggests, I'm kind of confused. Smile

Its the speaker confused about whether or not he/she/it's little dewdrop friends are the same ones, but he/she/it knows that they're different but doesn't want to let the old ones go

I really like the nature symbolism! It reminds me of Robert Frost. I've always liked his poetry.
    Great metaphor! Smile

It IS kind of Frosty (hehe). Not to be all dark about it but it sounds like a metaphor for life, you know? So fleeting...As in every dewdrop is a person who only stays around for a brief time

Love it!!! Reminds me of "nothing gold can stay" from Frost. But also telling that the ordinary pieces of beauty and nature and life, are not just ordinary. Especially when the "grass eluminated by the sun" meant something particularly meaningful to you one day, and the next they don't. Suddenly missing the identical day before, when you saw that beauty differntly. Showing that inanimate objects can hold different meanings from day to day, or from person to person.
