    I feel I don't belong
Like an analog clock in our digital world
Ticking and ticking and ticking away
Giving all of myself, too much
To the point if I keep ticking I'll explode

We sit and eat in stony silence, suffering
The fractured promise of unfulfilled dreams
For the slightest moment we are two parts of the same beast.
We drink at the same time, chew at the same time, look each other knowingly in the eye at the same time.
That each of us has a million feelings about a thousand ills but no words or thoughts to express them
I do not explode. Her ammunition was spent earlier
Instead she takes her last bite
And I wonder what I could have done right
