    His eyes filled with longing
    As he smiled and said, "Hello"
    The Mourning becomes the Night
    As his friendship was met with ice
    And his heart became the snow

    I love the play on words with morning to mourning!
    And the switch from past to present and back is interesting; was that on purpose?
    It has a nice ring to it...in a sad way. :/
