ok, i guess this'll be my poetry topic...um, i probably won't get anything up tonight, but i will eventually....well, i wrote that one symbolic one...i guess i can post that, so here it is

The flame still held after several years,
Despite the onslaught of wind and tears.
'Twas not the faith that held it so,
But remembered feelings of long ago.
The wax had melted down to wick,
And wick had burned the candlestick.
The tears had splattered and flickered the flame,
Coming close, but not only to blame.
Oh! why did it have to end, in wind?
The battering force that no one could send?
The wind had pushed and molded the wax,
Twisting the form 'till it couldn't go back.
The wax had resisted until that day,
When wind and tears had gone away.
And nothing was left, save the silence,
A peace that no flame had ever known,
Wrenching at the candle, and its sense,
And then disappeared with breath blown.

I can remember the days gone past,
When I believed that life was happiness,
That nothing could touch me or bring me down,
But the naivety of children astounds,
Until the true logic is unlocked,
    And suddenly, that once-loved rainbow
    Isn't a promise anymore.

You make me sick with jealousy, Jen. No This is crazy-good. Are you sure you're not a published poet? I just... yeah... It's amazing. To go with terms from Mrs. Rutland's class-- The symbolism, the imagery, personification...etc. Wow. It's a good one. alien

That's just depressing. The once-loved rainbow? How tragic.

Came from nowhere?!?!?! Geez, I want some of your genes. That is definitely not a comment to make to stop jealousy, silly. Makes me even greener, and I don't think I can find a smiley to match. Nope. Just my alien buddy and the other guy. Glad you have such talent though.

The subway cars in shades of blue
    Held me in their depths
Wanting me to see the side
    That my future would reflect

The subway cars in the sky,
    Seemed to have no end,
    For after each station found,
There seemed to be a trend

Twice I saw the other cars
    Floating in the sky
    Filled with happy passengers
Which I thought was humor dry

I yelled and shouted, screamed my best,
    But all to no effect,
For when I closed my eyes again,
I saw my life was wrecked

    I saw the blowing papers,
    The abandoned third rail too,
    Yet after this future alone,
I could only think of you

    So comes the last stop,
    The so-called end-of-line
    With quivering knees I departed
And thought I'd be just fine

But when I saw that image,
Of you held in my heart,
The last thing I could remember
Was a want for a better start

eh...i don't think it flows that well...feel free to rip it to shreds

I like most of it... The rhythm is a bit off in a couple stanzas, but it's all good. Kinda mimics life that way, right? I like how it's expanded. Favorite stanza is the last one, definitely. The little twist of syntax fits it well.

Jen, I like your poetry. Tis very good.

And I think you should kidnap Amber and bring her back. Or start a new character. It's good for you.

    here's a song i wrote earlier this school year....yeah.

It started like a new beginning
It’s ending like a person drowning
    I’m yelling for somebody’s help
But nobody’s there, but nobody’s there

I don’t know where the problems began
I know that I wanted to be there
But I can’t seem to find my place
So I’m better off leaving you behind

I’ve traveled all across the oceans
I’ve seen all that there is to see
I’m starting to forget the past
But it’s always there, it’s always there

I want to just find a home
Where I could find some way through despair
So I’m facing the dawn that breaks
Where I can find some way to forget your face

    I’m starting to piece together
What I deemed would last forever
Now I see all the pain I’ve caused
So forget my face, I’ll be now erased

Every time I cry for you,
    My tears fall subtly
Like rain outside on my windowpane
    Trying so hard to conceal
    The secrets within
    Slowly, each tear, each raindrop,
    Each thought, pain, or worry
Melds together into a single form
    Threatening to overpower me
    Until it reaches my windowsill,
My anchor, what I couldn't live without
And when finally that anchor has sunk
I know I can count on you
To keep me from drifting astray

I took the road less traveled by
And started my journey to wonder why
Why the thoughts of men alike
Cover the planet in layers of strife
But in the end I have to say
No disappointment had come my way
For when I arrived at the end
Through twists and turns around the bend
I came to find what I was looking for
That men just look for ways to score

    The Wilting Rose Empty Maelstrom

    Post  i<3edwardcullen March 25th 2009, 7:26 pm

    In the maelstrom I flounder
    But not trying to escape
    'Lest I tempt the tempest
Bringing the storm to its height
And losing any shred of hope
In seeing calm seas ever again
    It pulls me in,
    Then spits me out,
    Indecisive in its nature
Making my head spin with each exchange
But if I can choose to believe
    In only one, solid truth,
I choose to believe that I can
    Put myself wholeheartedly
    In your current
To do with me what you will

    The Wilting Rose Empty Black

    Post  i<3edwardcullen April 6th 2009, 9:29 pm

    Black,
    The color of infinity
    And the symbol of hopelessness
    Throughout the world and life
It stretches as far as one can see
Into the far corners of the galaxy
Showing that perhaps there is nothing,
Nothing ahead but hard times and trials

    But what makes the hopelessness
    And despair alike
    Embodies the everlasting peace
    That every person yearns for
Deep down or in the forefront
    Of their wishful minds
    Wanting to find the answer
    The solution to all problems
    Before we all travel
    Into the great unknown
    Once our time comes

    This vast expanse
    Holds so many mysteries
    So many wonders
    So many worries
    So many fears
    That this black
    Becomes the night sky
    An endless journey
    From which we never escape
And are subject to become lost in
To never find our way back out
    Of this miserable cage
    To which we imprison ourselves
Until the one ray of light
    Shines against oppression
    And becomes the beacon
    And symbol of burning hope
For all to see and embrace
    For the ray of light
    Is easiest to see
    In the sea of black

    The Wilting Rose Empty Journey

    Post  i<3edwardcullen April 12th 2009, 2:12 pm

    Is it really true?
That a journey could be over
    Before it’s really begun?
    The leaves may scatter
    As you hang your head
    And travel on,
    Either back or forward
    It doesn’t matter.
    You’ve traveled a path
    Not unfamiliar to you
For an hour, day, or year
    And you’ve added
    Just one more set
    Of footprints in the dirt
    Another cookie cutter design
    Used to deter others

    But physical means
    Aren't the only ways
    Although it seems
    The only way out
    And though a spirit
    May lay broken
    Inside your weary soul
    It shows the mark
    Of a true traveler
    For the journey
    That could break
    Your spirit,
    Must have been
    The greatest of all
