"Explain This:
-->Why a man was distributing dollar bills on the corner

Volunteers shared their explanations for the prompts in the Explain This exercise. Then the floor was opened to discussion of recruitment ideas, ways to bring new members to the club. Candy, flyers, color and balloons, stickers, word association games, and the mention of the presence of food at meetings were all suggested.
Nominations were made for officers:
-->President: Kyle
--> Vice President: Christina
-->Secretary: Jennifer
-->Treasurer: Willy
-->Publicist: Huy
-->Editor: Frankie
Nominations are still open. Those nominated may still decline, and new nominations may be submitted. Voting will be held next meeting, September 17.
Homecoming was the next topic of debate. 13 people voted that our club should have homecoming candidates (one person abstained). For female candidates, Kyle, Aimee, and Jen were nominated. Matthew, Michael, Paul, and Huy were nominated for male candidates.
Ideas for a float theme were suggested:
--> The Jazz Age (beatnik poet outfits, flapper outfits)
-->Monty Python (cocunuts to make horse-trotting sounds)
-->Western (shoot-out)
We voted as a club whether or not to participate in the skits for the Homecoming Pep Rally if this idea is implemented by the RSGA. 7 people voted to participate, and 1 voted against it. 4 people abstained.
Finally, we offered ideas for contests to hold during Club Week or Homecoming Week. Love poems, school spirit poems (cheers?), Finish the Story competitions, a rap-off style Rhyming Battle, and Mad Lib were all suggested.
Kyle, Ashley (who was not actually at the meeting), and Christina all took poster board home to work on banners for Club Week. The meeting was adjourned at 4:00. (correct me if I'm wrong...I suddenly am not sure...)
